Ghee Salmon has quickly become a staple in my kitchen. This recipe actually happened by accident one day when I ran out of oil and decided to cook salmon with ghee instead. That one switch not only enhanced the flavor of the salmon but also gave it a beautiful nutty aroma that I now can’t live without!
I like to marinate the salmon with simple spices: cumin, red chili powder, and salt. Sometimes I add a touch of turmeric, but that’s totally optional. The fish gets pan-seared in ghee until golden and crisp on the outside, while staying buttery and tender inside.
The best part? You can pair this dish with almost anything! I love it with plain rice and dal for comfort, but it’s just as delicious alongside buttery pasta, roasted veggies, or even a fresh salad.
Ingredients
- 8-12 oz Salmon (2 pcs) –Riviera Seafood Club
- 1tbsp ghee
- 1tsp ground cumin
- 1tsp red chili powder
- salt to taste
- 1-2tbsp oil for prepping the pan
Directions
- Marinate the Salmon: Coat the salmon fillets with cumin, red chili powder, salt, and ghee. You can let it sit for 5–6 minutes, or cook it right away if you’re short on time.
- Prep the Pan: Add a little oil to your pan to prevent the salmon from sticking.
- Sear the Salmon: Once the pan is hot, place the salmon gently, skin side up, and sear for 3–4 minutes. Carefully flip the fillets so the skin side is down, and cook until the skin turns golden and crispy.
- Serve and Enjoy: This ghee salmon is delicious served over buttery pasta, with simple rice and dal, or alongside roasted vegetables.
