- ½ cup + ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- ⅔ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1½ teaspoons baking soda
- 1½ teaspoons baking powder
- 2 large eggs
- ¾ cup neutral oil
- 1 teaspoon instant coffee, dissolve
For the Chocolate Ganache
- 1 cup whole milk
- ½ stick (¼ cup) unsalted butter
- 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
Directions
Make the Chocolate Cake
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 7.5 x 6-inch baking dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and baking powder.
- Add the eggs, milk, oil, and the dissolved coffee mixture. Mix until the batter is smooth and well combined. Do not overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 38–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out little crumbly (not clean)
- Let the cake cool slightly while preparing the ganache.
Make the Chocolate Ganache
- In a saucepan over low heat, combine the milk, butter, chopped unsweetened chocolate, and sugar.
- Stir continuously until the butter and chocolate have completely melted and the mixture is smooth and glossy.
- Pour the warm ganache over the baked cake, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
- Allow the ganache to set for 10–15 minutes before serving, or don’t wait at all! Just dig in 😉
